The owner of Ashcroft airfield at Wettenhall has kindly granted us the use
of a runway and some of the facilities at his field. He has also provided us
with a parking area, pits area and storage space. This has developed into an
excellent flying site, although it must be borne in mind that it is an
active airfield handling full size light aircraft. It is therefore essential
that full size aircraft movements must always take precedence over model
flying. Members may not fly any model until they have been briefed on the
correct procedures and no-fly zones associated with the use of the field –
this is not as onerous as it may sound.
When the club first started using Ashcroft Airfield were also granted
the use of the airfield clubhouse together with use of tea and coffee
making facilities and toilet facilities are also available. In 2019 a
new "social area" was made alongside the pits area, this included a tent
for shelter. In 2020 further progress was made and our own club house
was erected.
We have our own parking area with a pathway to our pits area.
